Criolla Sella Hot Pepper
Criolla Sella Hot Pepper
Capsicum baccatum
First off, this special pepper is Capsicum baccatum, as opposed to Capsicum annuum like most peppers we grow here. This pepper has a citrus sweetness, heat comparable to cayenne, and dries easily due to their thin skin. These peppers are golden orange, 3 inches long, and the bushy plants produce abundantly.
Criolla Sella translates to Native Sadle.
This heirloom originates from Bolivia, and is adapted to our cooler climates.
15 seeds per pack
Seed starting:
These are heat loving plants. Start indoors 6-10 weeks before the last frost (depending on your region), and sow 1/4 inch deep. Keep the soil warm and moist. Pot up to a larger pot once the true leaves appear. Transplant outside in your garden once all danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed. Mulch heavily with organic matter (straw is a great option).
We live and garden on ancestral territory of Algonquin Anishnaabeg People, forever territory of wild fauna & flora, cultivated lands of Irish and French settlers, and now beloved home of the junco seeds family (humans, chickens, dogs, sheep and cats)
