Ipomoea purpurea

These seeds were collected about 10 years ago in Dharamsala India from the Namgyal monastery, where the Dalai Lama lives in exile. I got them from Baba Joanne in Peterborough, who in turn received them from Judy years earlier. Blooms of amethyst-purple and orchid-pink with darker stars in the middle have a special luminescent glow in the garden.  A very special variety, limited amounts in reserve.

These morning glories spread their love & wisdom by self-seeding.

Growing Tips:

Plant these directly in the soil outside after all danger of frost: you can soak the seed indoors for 24 hours if you'd like to give it a head start. They enjoy a wall or trellis to climb in full sun, in ideally well drained soil. Avoid an overly fertilized soil as that will encourage leaf growth over blooms. Blooms from summer to the first frost, and will re-seed aggressively... so plant where you'd like these to come back every year.
