Pisum sativum
Annual plant, open pollinated.
This is a very old heirloom variety, introduced in 1892 by D. M. Ferry & Co, but believed to be much older. It bears beautiful purple blossoms, pea leaves are great in salad, and the small pods (3-4”) are pale-green and stringless. A true snow pea great for stir-fries and steaming. These plants do not grow very tall and thus require no support.
Days to maturity: 75
Seeds per pack: 50
Seed starting
Direct seed in the garden as soon as soil can be worked. Sow at 1 inch depth. Peas will climb, so provide them with trellising. They can tolerate a little frost, and they are naturally quite drought tolerant. You can plant them a couple inches apart.
