Shishito Pepper
Capsicum annuum
Annual, open-pollinated.
Shishito, also known as sweet wrinkled old man pepper (!), is quite popular these days in restaurants. This is a mild pepper that is 2-3 inches long with blunt ends. Often harvested green for frying Japanese tempura style. Delicious!
Days to maturity: 55-70 from transplant.
25 seeds per pack.
Seed starting:
These are heat loving plants. Start indoors 6-10 weeks before the last frost (depending on your region), and sow 1/4 inch deep. Keep the soil warm and moist. Pot up to a larger pot once the true leaves appear. Transplant outside in your garden once all danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed. Mulch heavily with organic matter (straw is a great option).
We live and garden on ancestral territory of Algonquin Anishnaabeg People, forever territory of wild fauna & flora, cultivated lands of Irish and French settlers, and now beloved home of the junco seeds family (humans, chickens, dogs, sheep and cats)
